Regional Recovery and Reemployment Forum
As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), significant investments are now being made to rebuild the country‘s infrastructure, address energy and environmental concerns through investments in green jobs, and develop reemployment opportunities for individuals who have lost their jobs due to dramatic economic shifts. The national Reemployment Summit, held in Baltimore in January 2009, was a key component of ETA‘s ongoing efforts to support the workforce system in redesigning reemployment functions and services to meet the needs of today‘s unemployed workers and in contributing to economic growth and recovery. During the Summit, participants identified key reemployment principles and topical areas of focus. Now, six follow-up Regional Recovery Forums will be held to build on the lessons learned at the Baltimore Summit. The Regional Recovery Forums will provide participants with the opportunity to address challenges impacting their reemployment efforts, and, in consultation with experts and colleagues, develop concrete action plans for addressing current reemployment needs while also positioning their workforce systems for long-term success and sustainability.
